Emphysema
We just wanted to say thank you. We will never be able to repay you or express how grateful we are to you for all the support and help. There would have been no one in the world that we would have had in preference to you to act for us.

Emphysema is a form of lung disease. It is generally caused by smoking. Damage occurs to the elastic supporting structure within the lungs. This leads to breakdown and collapse of some of the airways, which causes air to become trapped and the lungs over-inflated.
A rare inherited form of emphysema exists, called homozygotic alpha-one antitrypsin deficiency. Sufferers have a deficiency of a protein, found in the serum part of blood which acts to protect the lungs.
The condition usually occurs by middle age, and can occur without exposure to the usual irritants such as cigarette smoke.
If you suffer from emphysema and are employed or have formerly been employed in an environment where you have been exposed to smoke or gases which you think has exacerbated or triggered the disease than you might be entitled to compensation. The specialist industrial disease legal team may be able to help you with a claim for compensation.
