Time Limits to Bring Your Claim

May I thank you for the way my accident claim has been handled, after my accident my confidence was very low indeed but the sympathetic handling of my case restored my confidence.

John, Sheffield

Generally you have 3 years from the date of an incident or actual knowledge of an incident to make a claim. There are exceptions and this can be extended in a number of circumstances. Most notably, if someone sustains such a severe brain injury that they have not got the ability to manage their own financial affairs, they are not subject to this time limit.

However, as a result of delays that occur, vital time can be lost in evidence gathering, which can be detrimental to a claim. The effect upon someone's quality of life can be dramatic. Therefore anyone who may have a claim for compensation should speak to a specialist solicitor as soon as possible to ensure that the vital evidence gathering process begins and opportunities to put a potential Claimant ahead of their opponent are not lost.
