These are a very serious group of fractures and are usually a consequence of slow impact with a large solid impact; a section of the bone is often dented. Depressed fractures can often lacerate arteries within the membrane (thin layers of tissue) of the brain and cause haemorrhage. Depressed fractures can cause neurological problems such as epilepsy and chronic headaches.
