Nigel, DerbyshireNational and International media reported today how Merck, the US pharmaceutical group, is preparing for lawsuits after it emerged that the company's arthritis drug, Vioxx might have caused up to 28,000 heart attacks. The figures are based on analysis of 1.4million patients of Kaiser Permanent, one of America's largest healthcare groups. The study, by the US and Food and Drug Administration, included comparisons betweens patients that took Vioxx and those taking a rival Pfizer product.
