£6million payout for 5-year old victim of RTA

Pamela, CastlefordToday in the High Court an infant approval hearing took place to agree the compensation settlement for 5-year-old Humaira Siddiqua.
The settlement consists of a £2million cash payment and 150,000 per year for the rest of her life. The equivalent value of this is in excess of £6million but it could equate to a great deal more.
Humaira was knocked down by a car being driven in excess of the speed limit down a one-way street. She suffered serious spinal injuries as a result and will require specialist help and care for the rest of her life. She is now paralysed from the neck down and requires ventilator assistance to breathe. A team of carers have been brought in to care for her.
The family's solicitor at Alexander Harris solicitors, said following the hearing: "Whilst this is an excellent result in terms of the financial settlement which will ensure that Humaira receives life long care it is a tragic case the circumstances of which must be every parents worst nightmare. The family are pleased with the settlement, as this ongoing payment will ensure that Humaira has the special care which she needs for the rest of her life. They are now committed to moving forward into the future and providing the best care possible for Humaira. Every spinal cord injury case I handle is tragic but Humaira's case is so sad because of her tender age"
The case was heard in the High Court Queens Bench Division by Mr Justice Leveson, who praised Alexander Harris for achieving such a satisfactory result in a relatively short period of time.
