24/01/2001
Thank you very much for the brilliant service, professionalism and caring attitude whilst handling my recent claim.
Vicki, Sheffield
The Coroner for South Manchester John Pollard today returned a verdict of unlawful killing following the inquest into the death of Nelly Mullen.
Solicitor Nicola McIntosh of Alexander Harris Solicitors who are representing in excess of 150 relatives of Shipman's victims and alleged victims made the following statement:
"We welcome the Coroner's verdict, and are pleased for the family. Whilst this verdict is again encouraging it is important to remember that each case will be judged on its own individual facts."
"It is also important to remember that there are a lot of families of alleged victims of Shipman who are currently without an inquest and without answers as to what may have happened to their loved one. These families also need answers."

Shipman patient unlawfully killed
A coroner yesterday recorded a verdict of unlawful killing on another patient of killer GP Harold Shipman. Nellie Mullen, 77, had complained of feeling mildly ill on the morning of her death on May 2, 1993. Soon after Shipman arrived at her flat in Hyde, Greater Manchester, she died from what he said was a heart attack.
