Natallie Evans applies for funding to take her case to the House of Lords
23/07/2004
Thank you so much for handling my case so well. You came to know us at a great time of sadness and you were so kind. We will always remember you as very professional but also very warm hearted.
Sylvia, Tamworth
Natallie Evans has applied to the Legal Services Commission (LSC) today in order to fund her case to the House of Lords.
Natallie was granted one month from the Court of Appeal Judgment to either file a petition to the House of Lords for permission to appeal or to apply for public funding awarded by the LSC.
The LSC will consider the merits of Natallie's case and whether it is in the public interest for it to proceed all the way to the House of Lords.
Natallie was heartbroken when the Court of Appeal dismissed her legal challenge to save her frozen embryos last month. She was given one month to consider whether or not to appeal the decision.
Partner and Head of Clinical Negligence with Alexander Harris, Muiris Lyons commented: "Understandably, Natallie wishes to pursue every possible avenue in the hope of saving her embryos. This legal challenge has wide implications not just for Natallie but also for the future of IVF treatment. We are hopeful that Natallie's funding application will be successful. Once the application to the LSC is determined we have one further month within which to lodge our petition for appeal with the House of Lords."
