Mum speaks out after epilepsy misdiagnosis halted her life

Rachel was waiting for a train one day when she began to feel dizzy. She experienced a number of sensations including feeling limp, dazed and having a lack of control over her body.
Months later she was forced to give up a job she loved after being mis-diagnosed with photo sensitive epilepsy. She was only 25, and at the start of her career.
The misdiagnosis vastly affected her and her life.
She has since found it extremely difficult to find another job and now looks after her two children at home.
Rachel's solicitor Sue Taylor said:
"This was an unusual clinical negligence case in that it surrounded Rachel's inability to work as opposed to any physical injury"
"The effect of the misdiagnosis upon Rachel was to render her unfit to work with computer screens and under bright lights. She was therefore retired on ill health grounds.
"She is now putting her life back together and retraining with a view to becoming employed again.
"What struck me most about this case was Rachel`s determination and perseverance to see her case through to the end despite all the odds. I think most would have given up."
