A date for the full hearing of the inquest into the death of Luke Winston-Jones is expected to be set on Monday 18th April.
The Coroner for Merseyside, Mr Andre Rebello, is scheduled to review the case on this date and will fix a date for a full hearing which is likely to require one day.
Please Note:
This case is the subject of a Coroner's Inquest it would not be appropriate for Ruth or anyone else connected with Luke and his family to comment further to the media on the issues it will address.
Background:
Luke Winston-Jones from Holyhead, Anglesey, was in hospital all of his life with Edwards Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder.
Luke was born on 30th January 2004.
An application was made by Alder Hey Children's hospital to the High Court to clarify the obligations of the treating clinicians in the event that Luke required resuscitation.
The hearing at the Family Division of the High Court was heard in public before President of the Family Division, Dame Butler-Sloss DBE. It began on Thursday 21st October 2004 and judgment was delivered on the 22nd October 2004.
The High Court ruled that the right remained for Luke to be resuscitated if his condition deteriorated.
