Jamie's story: broken leg - hospital negligence causes permanent damage

01/01/2000

Thank you for all your time and excellent work and rest assured that if myself or family or friends require any legal help in the future I will refer them to yourselves.

Michael, Crawley

Jamie was playing football with friends when he fell, leaving him with a broken leg. He was taken to hospital for internal nailing. While in hospital he developed post operative compartment syndrome. This was not diagnosed for several days.

He developed nerve damage, causing clawing of the toes; ankle problems; as well as severe scarring.

Doctors put the wrong sized nail in his leg, which meant that the break in his leg did not heal. Jamie then required extensive surgery to fix the break and make his leg straight again. He had many years of treatment.

Prior to his accident, Jamie worked as a carpenter. He is now unable to do a manual job. He has no other qualifications so this been particularly debilitating for him.

Specialist clinical negligence solicitor Louise Hunt settled Jamie's case for a six figure sum. This compensation will help him to access the help and support he now requires to lead an independent life after his accident.
