Airedale Hospital nurse accused of three murders

13/10/2004

Thank you so much for handling my case so well. You came to know us at a great time of sadness and you were so kind. We will always remember you as very professional but also very warm hearted.

Sylvia, Tamworth

A senior nurse appeared in court yesterday charged with murdering three women pensioners and the attempted murder of a male patient at a hospital.

Anne Grigg-Booth, 51, is further accused of unlawfully administering poisons to 12 other patients.

She was a night matron at Airedale General Hospital, in Keighley, West Yorks, and the offences are alleged to have been committed between June 2000 and July 2002.

A spokesperson for Alexander Harris, who represent the families of Harold Shipman said: "It is extremely worrying to read of yet another case. Experience has shown that this is devastating not only for the families involved but that it also has an effect on the wider community. It is vital that this is investigated fully to ensure that public confidence is restored in our public health system."
