Woman Injured At Top Of Escalator
23/01/2012
Helen had arrived in Manchester Piccadilly Train Station on a train from London, she was walking through the station to catch a connecting train home.
When Helen reached the top of the escalator, the person in front of her knocked a barrier post which had been left in the way of passersby. The post was not secured to the ground, the barrier post fell and struck Helen on the head, ear and shoulder, knocking her to the ground. Helen sustained bruising and a puncture wound to her head.
Because of the injuries, Helen needed to work from home. Her family had to assist her with day to day tasks and she missed a number of social engagements.
Katrina Elsey from our Public Liability Team in Sheffield, helped Helen claim £1,5000 compensation in an out of court settlement against Network Rail after they admitted to being at fault for the accident.
