14/08/2006
I would like to thank you again for the speedy and sensitive way in which you have dealt with this matter. I would have no hesitation in recommending your firm to anyone in the future.
Pamela, Castleford
Two men have died after a scuba-diving accident off the Mediterranean island of Gozo.
The father and son, from Wales died last week on holiday in Malta.
An investigation has begun into the incident.
The pair were both just learning to dive, and ran into difficulties during the dive.
Resuscitation attempts failed and sadly both men had died by the time paramedics arrived.
Specialist accident and injuries overseas solicitor Guy Bailey urged caution when taking part in holiday activities:
"I would urge people to be careful and take all the appropriate safety measures when taking part in potentially dangerous sporting activities on holiday abroad - particularly on the water."
"At Inquests into further deaths last week the coroner highlighted questionable aspects of some diver training courses, which have raised significant concern about the safety of participants in water sports."
Irwin Mitchell has acted in a number of diving accident cases overseas.
