Train crash at Exeter St David's Station
19/01/2010
A train travelling from Barnstaple to Exmouth hit a stationary train bound for London at Exeter St David's station on January 4th. Several passengers were taken to hospital for treatment following the collision.
The Exmouth-based First Great Western Train service was carrying 12 passengers, five of whom had to go to hospital.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is being carried out by the Rail Accident Investigation Board. The train was immediately quarantined to allow the examination team to investigate.
A passenger on the Exmouth-based train reported that an announcement was made telling all on-going passengers to disembark at Exeter St David's as the train was defective. It was at this point that the accident took place.
Irwin Mitchell has been approached by an injured passenger to pursue a possible compensation claim. If you were a passenger on either train or you witnessed the accident, please contact us.
