Teenager left with severe brain damage after accident as a baby
31/12/1999
Thank you to everyone involved in my case. I never dreamed of such an outcome and you have made such a long and difficult case seem easy and bearable.
Nigel, Derbyshire
Aaron Blain was just a small baby when he sustained a fractured skull after a horse caught its reigns in his pram visiting a farm near his home. His head hit the ground, and he suffered severe head injuries.
Doctors failed to diagnose and treat Aaron properly.
He developed meningitis, and spent three weeks in intensive care and three months in hospital. He was left severely brain damaged.
He now suffers from severe epilepsy. He has up to five fits a day and needs looking after constantly. He is deaf in one ear and his sense of smell is affected.
Solicitor Francesca Dowse represents Aaron in his clinical negligence claim: "This is a very sad case but I am pleased we have achieved a result in unhappy circumstances. The interim payment which we have secured today will help Aaron to move into purpose-built accommodation," said Francesca.
