Stephanie, Cheshire

Over 150 people have been affected by an outbreak of cryptosporidium in North Wales. The source of the outbreak is currently being investigated.

Solicitor Simon Taylor who acted on behalf of over 1500 people affected by an outbreak of cryptosporidium at the Alcudia Pins hotel in Majorca 2003, said:

"Any major outbreak of cryptosporidium infection is a serious and unusual event. A thorough investigation will be required in order to establish the source of the outbreak, and whether or not there was a failure of health and hygiene systems. If such failures occurred, those affected may well have a claim for compensation."
