Investigation launched after elderly patient suffers injury after criminal assault

An investigation is underway after a terminally-ill cancer patient was the victim of a criminal attack in hospital.
The man was sleeping when he was attacked by another patient.
The elderly man, who suffers from a rare form of blood cancer, was being treated in Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy following a fall at home, when he was attacked.
An investigation has been launched by NHS Fife after the man was left injured after the assault, with cuts and bruises to his head and face.
Fife Constabulary are thought to have charged a 73-year-old man with assault.
