Holidaymakers struck down with gastric illness at Riu Bachata hotel in Dominican Republic

Hundreds of guests at the Riu Bachata hotel in Bahia Maimon, Dominican Republic have been struck down with gastric illnesses. Symptoms include sickness and diarrhoea.
Guests experienced severe symptoms including violent vomiting, crippling stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Some were put on an intravenous drip and given injections, and girl collapsed.
Guests have alleged that tour operators were aware of the outbreaks prior to their departure.
There have been a number of similar outbreaks of illness at hotels Riu Merengue and Riu Mambo.
Irwin Mitchell is acting for a number of people who were affected by the bug.
