Health and Safety Initiative Praised by Work Injury Lawyer

A specialist work accident lawyer has spoken of his admiration for a new initiative that offers on-site health and safety advice for migrants who work in London’s construction business.
The Health and Safety Executive, who launched the scheme, is encouraging employers to let their staff know about the multilingual help-lines that are aimed at Romanian, Polish and Indian workers.
A partner at law firm Irwin Mitchell, Colin Ettinger, said: "We welcome this initiative by the HSE. Migrant workers are indeed vulnerable when working on construction sites.
“We recently sponsored research into deaths on construction sites. Research was carried out by the Centre for Corporate Accountability. This demonstrated that a high proportion of this happened to migrant workers.
“It is clear from this that safety precautions need to be improved on construction sites in relation to migrant workers."
