Brain Injury Awareness Week is running this year Monday 13th to Sunday 19th March.
The annual event, organised by national brain injury charity Headway is an opportunity to raise awareness of Brain Injury on a national scale.
This year the theme is Target GPs - aiming to improve communication between doctors and brain injured patients.
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
TBI is caused by trauma to the head and depending on the severity of the trauma can lead to a coma, loss of power in the limbs, impairment of speech, changes in personality and memory, and behavioural problems.
Headway
National brain injury charity providing information, support and services to people with a brain injury, their families and carers. Each year, during Brain Injury Awareness Week, the charity seeks to raise the profile of brain injury and its consequences.
