Biker wins compensation after Hit and Run Collision
A motorcyclist in Peterborough has been awarded £6,000 in compensation after being knocked off his bike in a hit and run collision with an unidentified truck driver.
Our client was injured after a HGV driver, who has never been traced, performed a U-turn to follow his motorbike and then proceeded to drive into the rear of the bike, sending our client across the road. The driver of the HGV then left the scene of the accident.
The injuries left out client requiring two years of intensive physiotherapy following soft tissue injuries to his left elbow and lower back although he did go on to make a full recovery.
Despite being unable to trace the driver of the HGV, solicitors from Irwin Mitchell were able to advance our client's road accident claim to the Motor Insurance Bureau under their Untraced Driver’s Agreement, an industry scheme which compensates those injured in no fault accidents where the driver cannot be traced.
The bike accident claim was settled for £6,000 to compensate our client for his physiotherapy costs.
