Jane's story - delay in diagnosis of cervical cancer
Thank you for all your time and excellent work and rest assured that if myself or family or friends require any legal help in the future I will refer them to yourselves.
Michael, Crawley
Jane contacted her GP after experiencing a series of abnormal symptoms following a smear test. Her GP prescribed antibiotics.
Jane died a few months later following a massive stroke.
Jane actually had cervical cancer. The cancer spread to her brain and caused a stroke which led to her death.
Jane's doctor's failure to diagnose cervical cancer meant she died without knowing that she was suffering from cancer.
Jane was admitted to hospital following the stroke. Doctors performed a CT Scan and diagnosed cervical cancer.
Sadly the cancer had spread to her brain and was too advanced to be treated.
It is likely that Jane's smear test was misread. If the smear test had been reported as abnormal further tests would have been done immediately and Jane's cervical cancer would have been diagnosed much earlier.
Jane suffered due to the knowledge that her diagnosis had been delayed.
Specialist clinical negligence solicitor Caroline Stokes settled Jane's case for a four figure sum.
