Jane died a few months later following a massive stroke.
Jane actually had cervical cancer. The cancer spread to her brain and caused a stroke which led to her death.
Jane's doctor's failure to diagnose cervical cancer meant she died without knowing that she was suffering from cancer.
Jane was admitted to hospital following the stroke. Doctors performed a CT Scan and diagnosed cervical cancer.
Sadly the cancer had spread to her brain and was too advanced to be treated.
It is likely that Jane's smear test was misread. If the smear test had been reported as abnormal further tests would have been done immediately and Jane's cervical cancer would have been diagnosed much earlier.
Jane suffered due to the knowledge that her diagnosis had been delayed.
