Ventouse / Vacuum Extraction
Thank you very much for the brilliant service, professionalism and caring attitude whilst handling my recent claim.
Vicki, Sheffield
Ventouse is also known as 'vacuum extraction', it is a method of
helping the mother if she is having difficulty in the second stage of
pregnancy and is finding it hard pushing the baby out by herself, it is
often used if the baby starts to show signs of distress.
By
putting a small silicone plastic cup on the baby's head and removing
the air to make a vacuum it is then possible to pull the baby out while
the mother pushes.
